Customer mentioned that for users , who have changed their nickname, cannot get it locked and next time they login the name will be shown as username again, and this is not logical, should make it be able to stay as the screen name

How do you think of this one?

We might get this added in V10.2

I'm not exactly sure what you mean.

In our chat, users have to log out to change their user name.
This helps when logs need to be searched.

Hi Paul, thanks for participating

Actually this means that currently the users , after they change their nickname or screen name, it will not stay the next time he logs in again ; It will still show their username

Do you think this should be changed?

Hi,
I am also confused on what you mean by this.

Do you mean if John Doe logs on with the name "John" and he changes his nickname to Johnny, his new name becomes Johnny? So the next time he logs on he will have to log in with Johnny vs John?

I don't think it's good if what MMJR2000 is correct.

Admin, do you mean if John has registered the name ''John'' and changes it to ''Johnny'', the next time he returns it'll automatically revert back to ''John''?

Hello Mike,

Yes next time he logs in, his name will be shown as "jonny“ in the chat, but his username will be still john in the database,   does this make any sense?

So which one do you think should make more sense?

Hi,
So if I understand this correctly. If the username "John" changes his nickname to "Johnny" he would still log in to the site using his username which is "John" but his nickname "Johnny" will be shown each time until he changes it back to "John"?

If this is correct I have a questions.
1.) When a username is taken no one is allowed to of course have that name except the account holder. So if John is registered and Johnny becomes the nickname can someone go make the name Johnny? Or will Johnny be considered taken until John changes his nickname back to John?

If this is the concept of the idea I think it's okay just could be a bit confusing. I kind of like the way it is set up currently as far as how usernames are registered and how nicknames are used.

I think it's good if the system remembers the nick name the user changed to.

We do not allow users to change their names when they're logged in.
So this option wouldn't apply to us, would it?

Hey Mike

Right, nickname will affect the registration as well;
So if Johny was taken as a nickname by someone, this name cannot be registered as a username as well for new comers until John changes his screenname back to something else

A little bit awkward isn't it?

Right it does not matter in that way
